The Patterns of Meaning Initiative offers an innovative solution to address a critical challenge facing manufacturing and steel industries – an aging workforce, difficulty attracting young talent, and weak public perception. Recognizing that these industries require new artisans, Patterns of Meaning embarks on an Initiative to use fine arts to engage K-12 students by combining interactive, project-based classroom learning with experiential art exhibits featuring large-scale paintings and sculptures from the Patterns collection.
This Initiative includes a new large-scale "Patterns 250" exhibit, created for the 2026 U.S. Semiquincentennial. This effort works to transform the perception of heavy manufacturing from a dying industry into a vital, creative, and essential field, fostering broader public understanding and support.
Support Building for the Patterns of Meaning Initiative
The Patterns of Meaning Initiative has already garnered significant traction, receiving letters of support from the Lawrence Mercer Manufacturers Coalition and the American Foundry Society. These letters highlight the Initiative's potential to foster a deeper appreciation for manufacturing and skilled trades among youth.
If your company or organization shares our passion for education, art, and the future of industry, we invite you to learn more and explore how you can support the Initiative. Please reach out to Cory Bonnet at corybonnet@gmail.com to discover partnership opportunities.
