From Pittsburgh to Brooklyn: Patterns of Meaning Artists Join "The Industry of Art"

Artists from the Patterns of Meaning initiative will be represented in an exhibition that explores the creative connections between two cities. Brooklyn X Pittsburgh: The Industry of Art, curated by Eric Shiner, opens Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC) and runs through August 24.

Hosted at BWAC's historic waterfront space, the show brings together artists from Pittsburgh and Brooklyn who share a connection to innovation and industry.  With more than 130 works traveling from Pittsburgh, the exhibition celebrates not only visual art but also the cultural and industrial legacies that have shaped both cities. Pittsburgh’s long history of steel and aluminum production helped build much of New York’s physical infrastructure, including Brooklyn itself. Today, both cities remain home to artists, studios, and fabrication facilities that fuel creative and cultural innovation.

Patterns of Meaning artists Cory Bonnet, A.J. Collins, Brian Engel, Nate Lucas, and Mia Tarducci have work in the exhibition.
